It's their Roman Empire but it's turning into OUR French Revolution.
And the peasants are getting angry!
WOW! What a day!
Between doctor’s appointments, I tried catching up on the news. The most heartbreaking thing I saw? A mom turned away at the clinic because her child was on Medicaid, and the system was down. No login, no coverage. Meanwhile, on TikTok, my feed was flooded with videos of moms losing SNAP benefits, children with special needs being denied essential support, and tuition and federal study grants frozen.
And then, like a cherry on top of this dystopian sundae, I heard Steve Bannon say in an interview: “It’s going better than we ever dreamed.” He was talking about the chaos. The non-stop shock and awe. The relentless effort to keep us overwhelmed.
I sat in my car thinking: How do we keep going without letting this consume us?
Step 1: Get Your House in Order
Order a passport book. Even if you never plan to leave, have it.
Renew your driver’s license.
Get a copy of your birth certificate.
Order a replacement Social Security card.
Make colored and black-and-white copies of everything.
Gather all your medical and mental health records, including prescriptions.
Store originals safely at home and encrypted digital copies on a secure service like Proton or an encrypted USB drive.
Give a trusted friend a black-and-white copy. Just in case.
Step 2: Build Your Trusted Network
Who are your allies? Find them.
Who do you trust? Strengthen those bonds.
Organize and meet regularly. Create a safe, supportive community.
Step 3: Prepare for Economic Turmoil
Cut unnecessary expenses. The economy is teetering.
Focus on mutual aid. Share resources.
Pick one or two causes to quietly support. Volunteer where it counts.
Grow a summer victory garden. Share the food.
Lay low but stay engaged. The long game matters.
Step 4: Understand the Bigger Picture
They will burn it all down and won’t care who gets hurt—even their base. Because this isn’t about governance. It’s about greed. It’s about enriching themselves and their billionaire backers while leaving hard-working Americans behind. But history tells us this only works for so long before people rise up.
Look at Europe. Across Italy, Germany, and France, the far-right is surging—and people are fighting back. Have you seen the videos from Germany? Crowds singing Bella Ciao, the Italian resistance anthem. https://youtube.com/shorts/Z6pBThRyddk?si=BVVi5GMsC3TPr0k9
A brief history of Bella Ciao (song)

Here’s the English interpretation:
One morning I awakened,
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao!
And I found the invader.
Oh partisan carry me away,
Because I feel death approaching.
And if I die as a partisan,
Then you must bury me under the shade of a beautiful flower.
The song isn’t just about the past. It’s a warning—and a call to action. Sing it. Share it. Remember what we’re up against.
Step 5: Recognize the Echoes of History
Our moment has eerie parallels to the French Revolution:
A corrupt ruling class flaunting its wealth.
A massive gap between rich and poor.
A country drowning in debt from unnecessary wars.
A government that raises taxes on the working class while the wealthy skate by.
People are sick of politicians being bought by billionaires.
Food insecurity and shortages.
A global movement rejecting authoritarianism.
Sound familiar?
Step 6: Stay Vigilant—Texas is in Crisis
Today was the first committee hearing at the Capitol on school vouchers. SB2 passed 9-2 and heads to the Senate floor for a vote tomorrow. Most public testimony opposed the bill, but the Texas GOP isn’t listening. They worship at the altar of Jeff Yass, Betsy DeVos, and Tim Dunn—not Texas families.
See this Video we posted.
They’ll soon find out what happens when you sell out your constituents for billionaire donors. But until then, we fight.
Stay focused. Stay prepared. Stay in the community. And never stop resisting.

The fact that SB2 allots $10,000 per student for private/parochial/home school, but only $6,160 for public school, should tell you how malignant this bill is. They're saying that their private school kid is worth 62% more than your public school kid. Or, looked at the other way, your public school kid is only 3/5ths as valuable as their private school kid. Where have I heard that ratio before?
Thank you so much for the clarity and the resolve. Texas never goes down without a fight. Democrats and all those people who did not vote in Texas still deserve representation, whether Dan Patrick likes it or not. This will not stand. Texans will rise up and tell them we are not docile peasants. We will not just give our rights away.
