Nov 3rd - Nov 9th Messaging Guide
Democrats Messaging guide
Expose how Trump’s MAGA regime and Texas Republicans are starving families while feeding billionaires, connect SNAP cuts and tariffs to everyday struggles, and mobilize Texans to push back. No matter our ZIP code, paycheck, or politics, Texans take pride in feeding our families and helping our neighbors. But this November, as Trump turns the White House into his personal ballroom, 1 in 8 Texans will have less food on their tables because the MAGA regime and its corporate cowards are stealing from our families to fund their fascism.
They’re cutting SNAP benefits, jacking up grocery prices, and slapping tariffs that hit farmers, truckers, and working families hardest, all while billionaires toast to their tax breaks.
When we come together, ranchers and renters, teachers and truckers, moms and Meemaws—we can stop the starvation agenda and feed every Texan with dignity.
The MAGA regime is choosing to let Texas children go hungry.
Trump and his billionaire buddies are raising prices while cutting food aid.
SNAP cuts will hit 3.6 million Texans, including 1.5 million kids.
Texas families are paying more at the checkout because of Trump’s tariffs and Abbott’s silence.
We can feed our families and fight fascism, both are patriotic acts.
SNAP
✅ DO
Say “Trump Tariffs” — name the villain.
Tie food costs + tariffs + SNAP cuts together.
Center families, not just numbers.
Show real Texans: farmers, moms, workers.
Use humor + defiance. (“Feed families, not fascism.”)
🚫 DON’T
Say just “tariffs,” it hides who’s to blame.
Treat tariffs as a “policy debate.” It’s moral, not technical.
Lead with stats alone. Emotion moves people.
Show generic stock images.
Use despair or pity. Texans hate feeling powerless.
Here’s a list of SNAP recipients by Counties: LIST
Facts:
“One in ten Texans needs help just putting food on the table.”
In FY 2024, about 3.19 million Texans, roughly 10.2% of the state’s population, received benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). USAFacts+1
That’s not a margin of error. That’s your neighbors, your kids’ classmates, your church community.
“Texas Republicans say they stand for hard-working families — then leave them hanging.”
While millions rely on SNAP, some of the same Republicans are pushing policies that weaken the food safety net.
The disconnect: They talk about “freedom” and “self-reliance,” but when survival depends on access to groceries, they’re cutting the rope.
“It’s not charity. It’s survival.”
SNAP isn’t a handout, it’s a lifeline for people working low-wage jobs, raising kids, taking care of elders. Every Texan+1
Republicans who act like it’s “unearned” or optional are out of touch with what real Texans face.
“While Texas politicians posture, Texans panic.”
Rising food insecurity: millions of people are one paycheck, or one bill away from empty cabinets. Every Texan+1
Yet the same folks who brag about Texas being “open for business” are unwilling to protect the basic safety net.

Greg Abbott Poll
Here are the key takeaways we can use to build from
Voters in Texas are increasingly pessimistic about their personal economic situation and the direction of the economy and the state. The Texas Politics Project+2The Texas Politics Project+2
The poll indicates that the broad approval rating for Abbott is weak, strong disapproval among independents, and likely vulnerabilities even among some Republican-leaning voters. Statesman+1
Voters list economic issues (cost of living, housing, healthcare) and overall direction of the state as key worries. Statesman+1
The polling archive suggests there’s room for movement, if your messaging speaks to what people feel, not just what they believe.
In short, Texans feel economic pain, worry about the state’s direction, and Abbott is not locked in at a high approval. That’s our opening.
1. Core message pillars
Use these as the foundation for your campaign communications (digital, door-to-door, social, speeches):
A. “You’re Doing More But Getting Less”
Emphasize that many Texans feel like they’re working harder, paying more (housing, food, healthcare), and still slipping behind.
Frame Abbott and the Republican leadership as not delivering for everyday Texans, especially women and families.
Tie this into your mission: families and mothers cannot afford to have a governor who ignores economic anxiety.
B. “Who’s Watching Out for You?”
Position your campaign or organization as the voice for families, for economic security, for women in charge of decisions about home and health.
Ask: If you’re worried about costs, healthcare, access, where is Abbott? What has he done for you lately?
Connect to women, moms: balancing jobs, kids, healthcare, skyrocketing costs , you’re the ones living it.
C. “Direction & Change”
Voters believe the state may be going in the wrong direction; lean into that.
Offer a vision: “Texas can do better, an economy that works for families, healthcare that covers women, education that doesn’t leave us behind.”
Show that 2026 is the moment to choose a different path.

Every grocery trip feels like a hostage negotiation. Eggs? $5. Milk? $6. Greg Abbott? Still pretending this is fine. Families are stretched thin, but Abbott’s too busy stretching the truth about our economy.

Tone and Framing
✅ Values: hard work, pride, self-reliance, community.
❌ Avoid: xenophobia or attacks focus on fairness and local strength.
Frame it as “Texans vs. corporate greed,” not “America vs. anyone.”

Thanks for sharing this. It will come in handy when trying to have a good discussion with someone and make it about the facts and not the emotion.
I just read that Abbutt is threatening to put tariffs on anyone moving here from New York. Of course, he can't do that but to him he thinks it makes him sound tough I guess, and will make a good sound bite for fox news.
