So ..another thought....while Allred was running commercials about working with Republicans and a cute little scenario where he and his wife keep adjust the thermostat...Repubs are spitting out lie after lie about Allred's positions. And he had a bucket load of money....????

All in all, I don't think, considering his voting record, he was the best Democratic candidate that could be offered. And the door to door approach didn't work for O'Rourke. Nor did his registration efforts. We had a low turnout this time around ..inspite of it all.

I’m grateful for the 100 days of hope Kamala gave us instead of despair I had before Biden stepped down. Everything else you said is exactly where I am. I can’t even listen to Heather Cox Richardson right now.

Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you do. I appreciate your acknowledging the timing issues for both Harris and Allred. TFG and his hangers on have been campaigning for years at this point and we came in far behind. We have the next two years to get our shit together and do some real work. You have created a hub for making that happen.

I blockwalked a lot. Most people didn't open their doors. It was very frustrating. You are right, not many people wanted to blockwalk. They would sign up and then not show up.

I want to share my ultimate frustration. I think the Biden administration, for all its accomplishments, failed miserably to the oath they took to Support, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States, from enemies foreign and domestic. When judge Eileen Cannon perpetrated an act of favoritism to Trump by dismissing the Federal charges of classified documents, and his likely sharing some of those documents with Putin, and others of his ilk, she was acting in the interests of hostile powers. Biden should have pounced, her and the SCOTUS members who participated in shielding, serving the aforementioned enemies foreign and domestic.

What does a president do when there are enemy agents in the Federal Judiciary, and at loose elsewhere in our government. I think the federal marshals, security agencies, and other elements of the Justice Department should have detained Judge Cannon, and five SCOTUS members should also have been included in the "drag net". It would have been bold, it would have been stunning, it would have destabilized the nation, but the boil needed to be lanced.

The timidity of Biden, and Harris did not serve the nation at all well.

Now the USA will be a tool to an international cabal of fascists, and authoritarians, and when Trump swears in as President there is precious little we can do to prevent long lasting damage to the United States of America, and other representative democracies elsewhere in the world.

I am pretty furious about all that, and I foresee progressives in congress become helpless to oppose the collapse of Democracy in the USA.

If we plan to take to the streets, and exert ourselves to convince fellow citizens, network, and organize, we may be as much at risk as citizens in challenged democracies elsewhere, and it is sure not to be pretty.

I am with you,and yes it was disappointing etc. I adore this group and support wholeheartedly what it has tried to do and is continuing the fight. In the past two weeks . i have had numerous conversations with many I know in Texas, casual, formal, and just small talk at the grocery store. The results . To quote James Carville in 1992 'It's the economy stupid" - no clear message nationally, state or local was spoken in lucid language and to the point about it. That was the largest wound democrats took. There was no messaging period, just standardized fill in the blank speeches and scripts nothing from the heart. There was no answer to FOX, Newsmax, and podcasts. They got away with their Joseph Goebbels propaganda and it worked. It's 90 years ago all over again when Hitler ran as a populist in decimated Germany. We all saw what happened. We had no clear authoritative spokesperson on any level, only scattered dots. democrats focused mainly on women's rights, Transgender issues, without giving the same plain of attention to immigration, economy ( inflation jobs). The democrats leaned too much into the liberal side, without "taking the temperature" of the electorate who were moderate to conservative. There will be those who will get angry with what I will say on this. In order to do well we must get our candidates elected, BUT to do it we must know the temperature of the electorate. It is now and firmly entrenched as - moderate. You must get moderate candidates elected in order to work with in to bring the changes .,the democratic party wants to bring. Democrats must trim for now some campaign issues and focus on what won the election- immigration ,and the economy democrats must have a precise plan, that rurals and urbanites alike will understand. The additive to that- FACE TIME. Do not rely heavily on phone calls or mailers. meet the people , converse with them and be prepared to listen and Take good notes. trump will get his tariffs and prices will soar. A clear concise attack policy in plain simple english is needed and required, with the thoughts of the electorate imbedded in it. You accomplish this, we can win 2026. Like I said new methods, better messaging, conversations and moderate, will win seats so we can work with in to bring about change.

Thank you for this. I wondered who feels what I do. Yes, it makes me literally sick to watch these power hungry unethical people getting positions. The fact that some are able to bypass a background check is appalling. We have background checks to work anywhere! This is a joke.

I listen and overhear people saying, they’re glad that gal didn’t get voted in. It is sad that in 2024, that’s how so many people think. It’s disappointing, but I’m not discouraged. No matter how intelligent, educated, smart, or articulate….it doesn’t matter. The color of our skin still divides us!

Praying faithfully for change!

You nailed it! Thank you! And can we focus on getting our Texas Democratic Party actually functioning? I helped with Doug Peterson's campaign for TX129. Campaigns are hard to do, when you start so far behind. For example, the Houston Chronicle interviewed both Dennis Paul and Doug Peterson to decide who to endorse. They criticized Dennis Paul for his pro-corporate, anti-people positions. And praised Peterson for his Pro-people, pro-infrastructure, pro-reproductive rights, pro-environment positions, pro-education positions. They told Dennis Paul to do better for the people and then endorsed him.
